The KontinuumLAB Instrument Kit
The KontinuumLAB Instrument Kit (“K.L.I.K.”) lets you build electronic musical instruments, without any knowledge of programming or electronics. The instruments you make can be used as MIDI controllers, or as stand-alone instruments with their own internal synthesizers and audio output.
The kit contains all the sensors and components necessary to build any one of the instruments in the collection. It’s surprisingly simple, because the instrument keys are capacitive sensors, which can be made with any conductive material and a single cable. The other sensor modules are plug and play, so no soldering is required for a basic instrument.

The KLIK runs on 5 volt power, typically through a USB cable connected to a computer or phone charger, but it can also be powered by 4 AAA batteries. Rechargeable NiMH batteries are recommended, and the battery holder comes included.
The audio output comes in the form of a 3.5 mm “minijack” port on the KLIK board. It can be used with the supplied earbuds or similar, or with powered speakers, like computer speakers or battery driven smartphone speakers. The audio port does NOT work with stand alone speakers or large headphones.

The KLIK is a teaching tool, and so it comes with some limitations: The included samples are not high quality professional sounds. They were selected to be able to fit more instrument sounds on the limited memory of the chip. For high quality sound, you can use the instrument with a MIDI synthesizer.
The KLIK will be available at a special low price if you purchase it as part of a KontinuumLAB workshop. If you just want to buy the kit, you can order it from the SHOP.
The kit comes with a basic manual, describing each instrument, and more information about the techniques involved is available on the KontinuumLAB YouTube channel. But if you want to use the KLIK as a teaching tool, I recommend booking at least one online class, to get a solid grasp on the possibilities and different concepts involved. If you book a class with your kit, you get a discount.
The kits are made to order, and there is a variable lead time, so make sure you order your kit and/or workshop in advance.
